Biography

Hello, I’m Patricia Davies, thank you for visiting my website.

When I was a child I was always drawing and painting Disney characters.

I currently live in Bude, Cornwall and as an artist I am self taught, having left school after studying art to A level but then opting to join the more conventional  so called ‘real world ‘of working in a bank. After a few years I did escape and worked as a stewardess for an airline but art was never a consideration  as a means to earning a living. But in recent years I now find I am able to indulge myself!!

Art for me now is so important. I feel I have finally found what it is I was meant to do. Better late than never some might say!!

I find I am drawn to animals and wildlife  but mainly I try to capture light, mood, atmosphere, movement and feeling in whatever I do. I work in watercolour, oil and pastel. As you will see I am mainly drawn to painting animals and whilst I consider myself a wildlife artist this past year has seen me paint many dog and cat portraits and also a few horse paintings.

Over past years I have exhibited with local art societies and had work accepted by Artcare, The Wiltshire Open, Salisbury Arts Centre and have also exhibited at Salisbury Guildhall, Highcliffe Castle  and  Marwell International Wildlife Art Society, and sold many paintings and cards .  It gives me tremendous pleasure to know that people admire, appreciate and some even hang, my work on their walls!!!

I am a Professional Associate for the SAA, I teach at my studio at home and take pet portrait commissions. I have been on safari with  Marwell International Wildlife  Art Society to Tanzania to collect hundreds of reference photos!!  Some of my recent paintings are influenced by the wildlife I saw there.

I do hope you enjoy my gallery and I always welcome hearing from you with your comments.
